State railtrack company Eesti Raudtee estimates the freight capacity for the ongoing year to stand at 12.5 million tons, up one ton from 2020. In January, the freight volume on Estonian railroads reached 1.2 million tons, 32 percent more than January in 2020.

Eesti Raudtee kuulutas esmaspäeval välja ehitustööde hanke, et rajada Tallinnas Balti jaama sissesõidule üle Paldiski maantee uus raudteeviadukt. Pakkumusi oodatakse kuni 22. juunini. Viadukti rajamine on esimeseks etapiks Tallinna ja Kitseküla peatuskoha vahele täiendava peatee ehituseks, teatas Eesti Raudtee.
